Let’s start at the beginning. But the beginning isn’t at the distillery on Speyside where you might expect. The Tamdhu story starts under the warming Spanish sun. In 1898 our founders secured their first precious shipment of sherry casks from the finest bodegas in Spain. Now over 100 years later, Tamdhu matures its whisky exclusively in the finest Oloroso sherry casks. Although the casks are exceptionally rare and expensive, we wouldn’t change our methods, as we think it’s the only way to create the very best single malt whisky.
Far from Speyside’s main drag, Tamdhu doesn’t have a visitor center, so it must be experienced through the rich, lush flavor of the whisky—a profile that hearkens back to an old-school regional style, as might have been made when the distillery opened at the turn of the 20th century.
