Glengoyne 21 Year Old Single Malt Whisky
“The Jewel in the Crown” with age this malt has achieved its optimum balance of flavor.
Dark gold in color with a mature rich apple fruit nose leading to a full aromatic palate, with hints of oak and spice finishing a soft smooth length.
The Glengoyne distillery is situated in a wooded valley in the Southern Highlands of Scotland close to a small river that flows into the famous Loch Lomond.
Like all Malt whiskies, the barley is soaked in water and then spread out on the floor of the malthouse and turned regularly. Usually once germination has taken place it is dried using the smoke from peat fires which imparts an aromatic smoky flavor. This is not the case with Glengoyne Distillery who air dry the barley and so producing “The Real Taste of Malt”.

Tasting Notes
In the stillness of this quiet glen, patience is rewarded. For every minute other whiskies spend in their stills, Glengoyne spends three. Only then is it transferred to casks themselves prepared for six years. This is the Glengoyne Way.

Color
Golden yellow, clear and bright

Aroma
Christmas cake in a whisky glass.

Palate
Generous notes of honey and rich fruit with a long cinnamon finish.

The intense cinnamon and dried fruits in the tagine trigger the same notes in the whisky. A perfect balance of sweet and sour. The bitterness of dark chocolate and the warmth of crystallised ginger go beautifully with the sherried oak of the 21 year old.
